Commercial and advertising photography is used to promote or sell a product or service for promotional purposes, rather than preserving a memory or telling a story as in fine art photography and photojournalism. This is used in corporate brochures and leaflets, menus in cafes and restaurants, websites, blogs and anywhere photographs are tools to enhance a text. Product photography reveals the detail and feel of a product to the customer, while advertising commercial photography is more likely to focus upon the status and attractions of the product. These types of photography, combined with your staff head shots, are necessary to strengthen your brand, display your business and product in it’s best light, and give a full rounded continuity to your business’s overall appearance.
The better you know what images you need for your website, special promotions, and social engagement in advance, the easier it will be to create the right images for you. Shots with a white background are best, and by far the most flexible when it comes to using them online and in print. These shots are necessary for the product page, for cutting and adding to promotional ads, and for when you need your product to stand alone and take the spotlight. Knowing how you would like to display your product is important, too. Does an outdoor shoot suit your product or business theme, or do you need studio work? These are all things that we will discuss at length before we begin work on your project.
Would it help to know that 67% of consumers consider images “very important” when they buy, and that more than 50% of consumers think a high-quality photo of a product is more important than product information, a long description, or rating and reviews? The product photos on your website and in all printed sales material will influance a new customer’s first impression of your product and business. Online shopping removes the ability for your customer to get up close and turn the product around in their hands. Having professional-looking product photos will return some of that versatility to your customers’ purchase planning experience.
Well-designed photographs can take something abstract online and make it concrete in the customer’s mind. People want to buy things, but really like to do a close investigation, especially when buying online. A lot of people really have a hard time visualizing measurements or size just from reading a list of dimensions. If feasible, for products that people really need to have fit in a certain space, or necklaces they need to wear, it is best to show the item in a way that gives them a true sense of size and placement. Having multiple angles of each product is a great way to show this to the customer. I will give you more than just images of your product, I will make that product real in the consumer’s mind.
