Stephanie and Robert had a lovely Castle Farms wedding in the Queens Courtyard on a beautiful late summer day.  I loved how Stephanie’s choice of royal purple and grey tones complimented the Castle’s stonework and architecture.

Pete and Beth were married at noon among their closest friends and family with a Hawaiian theme to their day.  We many not be on island time here, but West Grand Traverse Bay sure comes in a close second!  The theme was topped off with the phrase “I Lava You”, which comes from a cute song about the volcanic islands forming.

Okay, so your sisters crashing your senior photo session may not be on every guy’s favorites list, but when you also get to have photos with your truck and firearms, on the family property; you overlook the sisters.

Rachael and Jeremy had a lovely summer afternoon wedding at the Park Shore Hotel in Traverse City.  Her grandfather walked her down the aisle and their son delivered the rings.  It was a wonderful family event that left everyone smiling.

Jackie was the second luckiest gal of the weekend as far as the weather went!  We waited out the rain and were rewarded by a gorgeous rainbow and a beautiful summer evening for her senior photos.

Amelia and Zach lucked out with the weather!  It was threatening a CRAZY storm for the entire day but it was dry through their wedding ceremony, through their photo time, and didn’t really start raining until we went in for the breakfast brunch reception.  Of which at that point it rained buckets!  Amelia said she prayed for good weather, only asking for it to not be wet until photos were done, which was answered absolutely on time.  Reception was at 1, it rained at 1.  How often does that happen???

What a fantastic family!  Bigs and littles, everybody was at the beach with smiles on!

It is days like this that restore my faith in the youth of today.  Of course, the actions of children, does define the greatness of the parents.  I made a mistake this evening, though.  I had the bright idea to have the two sisters kick/splash water at each other.  Inevitably, the older sister got the little sister right in the face!  I went and wiped the water and little sand bits off of her face as she gave me the look of not knowing whether to laugh or cry.  I told her that the summer beach water and sand will help her grow up to be a beautiful lady some day, in hopes that I could stave off the tears for good.  I thought that was the end of it.  But I always forget that little people ears can hear EVERYTHING.  As we walked back up the beach, the older sister asked me, “is that what worked for you?” “What do you mean?” I asked.  “Is beach sand and water what made you beautiful?” she said with a complete and real interest.  It took me off guard.  Firstly, that she was paying attention.  Secondly, that she thought I was serious.  And thirdly, that a little girl, no more than 6, saw my crazy disheveled summer work season self, as beautiful.  It truly brought a smile to my heart!  Good job parents!  You made a very sweet little girl!

This couple had a beautiful morning on the beach for a first look at the Homestead in Glen Arbor.  Their were then joined by their closest family and children for a ceremony at the top of the mountain.  I love these small weddings that are just about family.

Sarah and Jeff had a day of many colors. We started out with a major rain storm, but as the day progressed the sky opened up to glorious rays of sunshine for Sarah to walk down the aisle to. Mother nature had quite the sense of humor for the day. Just as we got done with the ceremony, the sky had to give us one more little shower and then smiled on us and gave a lovely Northern Michigan summer evening.

Brittany and Travis and 25 (including 4 ushers, and a super sweet & sassy flower girl) of their closest friends take the number 2 spot for largest wedding party to date for me.  Only to be topped 10 years ago by 16 on each side, plus extras.  This crew had a great summer day in Knights Courtyard at Castle Farms in Charlevoix.  The courtyard and reception hall were dressed beautifully.

And check out those Keds!  Those are some sparkley happy feet on that gorgeous bride!
