Would you guess that this is a January day in Northern Michigan?  Where did the snow go?  It may look like an unseasonably warm winter day, but it was not.  It was 100% winter temperatures.  We had a big January thaw the week before and of course, the week after we got bunches more snow.

From the light rains of spring, to bright sunlit summer-drenched beaches, through the early-darkening of fall, and on to the crispness of winter; this year has been beyond spectacular!  Thank you, to each and every one of you who supports me and makes all of my days at work absolutely enjoyable.

Sarah asked, I said yes.  I had no idea what I was getting into, I suppose neither did she, since we pretty much used the whole day.  And it was a day of many laughs, much goofiness, and some seagull bombings.  I got to play with some of my new studio things and ideas and then we progressed to a dark alleyway downtown.  Siri Salonen from Siri Salonen Photography came downtown to hang with us, too.  It’s so rare that I get to go play with other photographers, but when I do it reminds me how much I love this community of creative people around here.  So supportive!  So much fun!  And just really great people!

Oh my goodness!  This little doll is going to give her big brother some trouble!  Little miss Abigail is 6 months old now and well on her way to being just as spunky as big bro, Blake.

We had a great training day with Dan and the crew at Amazing Day Weddings!  The team has four new faces to provide you with a great wedding officiant anywhere in Northern Michigan.

Janaye and Spencer had a wonderful sunny and crisp winter’s day for their intimate wedding at Stafford’s Bay View Inn in Petoskey.  They were surrounded by their siblings as attendants, their parents, and closest family.  The love between these two was more than visible.  They shared laughter, adoring looks, and a comfortable ease with each other that just makes you happy to be around them.

Some days at work make me smile for days!  Today I got to wear snowpants, go 4 wheeling on an unplowed country road, and freeze my butt off in 17 degree weather to be a part of Cass and Rod’s winter ski-in wedding.  It was fantastic!  Despite the cold temperatures, the winds were fair and the sun peeked in and out of the clouds; making for an ideal winter’s day.  Lovely Cass and handsome Rod skied the few miles from the Homestead in Glen Arbor to the barn on Miller Road at Port Oneida to meet me and the officiant and commit their vows to each other.  It is always quite an honor to be part of an intimate gathering and participating in a happy couple’s union.

What can you say about a cold, wet, snowy day in February; where hundreds of people come together for a memorial snowball tournament?  You can say, “I’m from Cedar!”  The third year of this tournament was a great success!  People had fun, froze some tushie, and made some money to help a few local folks in need.  Good game!

I did a little testing with my new studio things and background that I got for Christmas.  I am really quite pleased with the outcome.  Of course, my best test subjects only work for a handful of treats.  Hopefully, I will have more time this month to do some further experimenting.
